The object was to create a piece representative of 'home.' I chose to index patterns found in old family photos from the house I grew up in.

Home

I designed and assembled this accordian-style booklet for a final project. On the pages are representations of various rooms in my childhood home accompanied by the words to the Beatles song 'Good Night' which my parents would sing to me and my three siblings each night. The patterns come from everything from pool siding, old milk cans that sat on our front porch, bathroom tiles, the patio stones in my backyard, toys, wallpaper, carpeting and upholstery. The lyrics are written in my parents' handwriting. The covers are hand-painted silhouettes of the crescent moon weathervane that sat atop the roof in acrylic.

Flipping through the pages is like taking a walk through my childhood home as each page contains patterns from a specific area of the house.
