Home

I designed and assembled this accordian-style book for a final project. On the pages are representations of various rooms in my childhood home accompanied by the words to the song Good Night by The Beatles which my parents used to sing to me and my three siblings each night.

The patterns come from everything from pool siding, old milk cans that sat on the front porch, bathroom tiles, patio stones in the backyard, toys, wallpaper, carpeting and upholstery. The lyrics are written in my parents' handwriting. The covers feature hand-painted silhouettes of the crescent moon weathervane that sat atop the roof.

The object was to create a piece representative of 'home.' I chose to index patterns found in old family photos from the house I grew up in.

Flipping through the pages is like taking a walk through my childhood home as each page contains unique patterns from a specific part of the house or yard.
